Drink Buddy does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

1. Overview

Drink Buddy ("the app") is a personal alcohol consumption tracker. We built it with a privacy-first design: there are no servers, no user accounts, and no analytics. All data you enter is stored exclusively on your own device.

2. Information We Collect

The app stores the following data locally on your device to provide its core features:

Body weight — used to calculate blood alcohol content (BAC)
Biological sex — used in the Widmark BAC formula
Drink logs — drink type, alcohol units, and timestamp for each drink you record
App preferences — daily/weekly limits, dark mode setting, notification toggles, quick-add drink order
Age verification — a flag confirming you have confirmed you are of legal drinking age

This data is stored using your device's local storage and never leaves your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

All data is used solely to power the features of the app:

BAC calculations and sobriety timer
Drink history and usage charts
Progress tracking against your personal limits

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party — because we never receive it in the first place. No data is transmitted to any server or cloud service.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in your device's local storage (localStorage / device storage). It is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We have no ability to access or recover your data.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete all stored data at any time from within the app: go to Settings → Clear All Data. This permanently removes all drink logs and resets preferences. Uninstalling the app will also remove all associated local data.

7. Age Restriction

Drink Buddy is intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction (18 years or older in most countries). The app requires age confirmation on first launch. We do not knowingly collect any information from users under the legal drinking age.

8. Health Disclaimer

The BAC calculations provided by this app are estimates based on the Widmark formula and are for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice and should not be used to make decisions about driving or operating machinery. Always drink responsibly.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
